It begins with my grandfather, a man with a keen eye for beauty and an undeniable passion for textiles. In pre-Partition Gujar Khan, part of undivided Punjab, he ran a shop importing fine fabrics from mills in Japan and Europe. His shop was more than a business; it was a place where every piece of cloth held a story, a world of possibilities. When he moved to Delhi, he embraced the rich tapestry of Chandni Chowk, setting up a wholesale-cum-retail shop selling shawls and blankets from Kashmir, right in the heart of India’s textile trade — a place full of colour and life.
As a child, I grew up listening to stories of his ventures and I felt a deep connection to the legacy he built. My father carried this tradition forward in the 1970s by founding Bindra Textiles. He became a trusted figure among local tailors and retailers, not just for the quality of the fabrics, but because he treated every customer like family. For him, business was not just about transactions; it was about relationships, trust, and the warmth that makes every interaction meaningful. That sense of purpose and connection has deeply shaped who I am today.
When I first started working with my father, I dedicated myself to learning the ins and outs of the textile industry. Over time, I began to notice something that really struck me. India has so many talented tailors, designers, and customers who have an eye for quality, but there was a big gap when it came to accessing the world’s finest fabrics. It felt like there was a treasure trove of exquisite textiles out there that India hadn’t quite tapped into yet.
Determined to bridge that gap, I took a leap and founded TSB Overseas with a simple goal: to bring the finest fabrics in the world to India’s most skilled hands. Taking that leap into uncharted territory felt bold, but I truly believed that India deserves nothing but the best. From the very beginning, our mission has been simple: to celebrate the journey of each fabric with care, consistency, and respect.
I remember those early days filled with excitement and uncertainty as I set out to fulfill that vision. Building strong relationships with the mills was essential; I wanted them to trust that I could be their reliable partner in India — and they did. In an industry where it’s common for suppliers to switch distributors every few years, I take pride in the fact that our partners have chosen to stay with us from the very beginning.
